The Core Equity Plus (S&P 500) 130-30 process is a core, "benchmark-oriented" strategy designed to add significant value through stock selection. We use a proprietary multi-factor model that, on a monthly basis, determines rational valuations for all securities in the investable universe based on their exposures to stock characteristics (e.g., price-to-earnings) that have a proven impact on security returns. Analytic evaluates over 70 different pieces of information (e.g., earnings-to-price ratio) to determine a stock's relative attractiveness. These pieces of information can be categorized into six broad groupings: Relative Valuation, Growth Potential, Historical Returns (e.g., 12-month momentum), Risk, Liquidity and Economic Sensitivity. Analytic's return forecasting technique is dynamic and adjusts to changing market conditions by allowing the importance of the characteristics to change in response to meaningful changes in the market environment. The process analyzes market conditions and adjusts the relative "payoff" of each of the characteristics according to what the market is rewarding. This has enabled Analytic to consistently add value in a multitude of varying market conditions. Analytic's risk management processes combine statistical (standard deviation, beta) and structural constraints (style neutrality, size neutrality, holdings constraints) as Analytic understands that statistical constraints can break down during times of stress. The firm stands apart from competitors because results are continually monitored to ensure risk is managed appropriately. In addition, Analytic uses individual security volatility to adjust our maximum relative holding constraint to ensure that a large movement in any one stock does not significantly impact the performance of the portfolio.
