Roger  G.  Clarke, Ph.D., Chairman
Roger Clarke is responsible for directing the development of the firm’s investment strategies and research agenda. Recognized as an authority with more than 20 years experience in quantitative investment research, Roger has authored numerous articles and papers including two tutorials for the CFA Institute. He has served as a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Portfolio Management and the Financial Analysts Journal. He also served on the faculty of Brigham Young University for eight years where he specialized in investment and options theory and continues to lecture as a guest professor. He concurrently serves as President of a non-profit organization. Roger received a Ph.D. in Finance and a MS degree in Economics from Stanford University as well as MBA and BA degrees in Physics from Brigham Young University.
Harindra de Silva, Ph.D., CFA, President, Portfolio Manager
Harindra (“Harin”) de Silva is responsible for the firm’s strategic direction and the ongoing development of its investment processes. As a portfolio manager, Harin focuses on the ongoing research effort for equity and global asset allocation strategies. Harin has authored several articles and studies on finance-related topics including stock market anomalies, market volatility and asset valuation. Prior to joining Analytic Investors, he was a Principal at Analysis Group, Inc., where he was responsible for providing economic research services to institutional investors including investment managers, large pension funds, and endowments. This included the development of quantitative equity strategies and econometric models for use in asset allocation strategies. Harin received a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of California, Irvine. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, an MBA in Finance and a MS in Economic Forecasting from the University of Rochester. He is a member of Association for Investment Management and Research, the American Finance Association, and the International Association of Financial Analysts.
Marie  Nastasi Arlt, Chief Operating Officer
Marie Arlt is responsible for defining, planning and implementing the strategic initiatives of the firm, as well as management of the critical aspects of the firm’s day-to-day operations. From administrative matters to organizational development, Marie leads the business management side of Analytic, helping posture the burgeoning firm for continued success. Her broad-based experience and strong communications skill set distinguish her contribution to the firm. She has been instrumental in helping the firm successfully manage its growth and sustain its competitive position, while ensuring the highest standards of service for its institutional clients. Marie received a BA in Communications from California State University, Fullerton.
Gregory  M.  McMurran, Chief Investment Officer, Portfolio Manager
As Chief Investment Officer, Greg McMurran oversees the implementation of the firm’s investment strategies. He is a major contributor to the firm’s ongoing research efforts as well as new product development and strategy applications. As a portfolio manager, Greg focuses on day-to-day portfolio management and research related to derivatives-based investment strategies. With 30 years of quantitative research, portfolio management and trading experience, Greg has an extensive background in managing quantitative investment portfolios. Greg is also recognized as an authority on options valuation and strategies and has authored several articles. Greg received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine and a MA in Economics at California State University, Fullerton.
Dennis  Bein, CFA, Chief Investment Officer, Portfolio Manager
As Chief Investment Officer, Dennis Bein oversees the implementation of the firm’s investment strategies. He is a major contributor to the firm’s ongoing research efforts as well as new product development and strategy applications. As a portfolio manager, Dennis focuses on day-to-day portfolio management and research related to equity-based investment strategies. Prior to joining Analytic Investors, Dennis was a Senior Consultant for Analysis Group, Inc., where he provided investment consulting services for institutional investors and plan sponsors. He advised pension fund managers on topics such as investment objective definition, asset allocation analysis, manager selection and manager performance evaluation. Dennis received an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Riverside. He completed his undergraduate studies in Business Administration at the University of California, Riverside. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts (ICFA) and the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts (LASFA).
Douglas Savarese, CFA, Portfolio Manager
Doug Savarese is a Portfolio Manager responsible for the ongoing research and development of global equity-based investment strategies as well as the day-to-day trading of global portfolios. Doug previously served as Senior Associate for Analysis Group, Inc., where he participated in many research and consulting projects, including asset allocation analysis and manager performance evaluation. Doug, a Chartered Financial Analyst, received a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Finance at the Richard Stockton College.
Steven Sapra, Ph.D., CFA, Portfolio Manager
As a portfolio manager on the equity team, Steve Sapra is responsible for the ongoing research effort for U.S. equity-based investment strategies as well as the day-to-day portfolio management and trading of such accounts. Prior to joining Analytic Investors, Steve was employed as a Senior Consultant at BARRA, Inc. in Berkeley, CA. He consulted with investment managers in the areas of risk control and strategy implementation. Steve has published papers in The Financial Analysts Journal, The Journal of Portfolio Management, and The Journal of Sports Economics. Steve, a Chartered Financial Analyst, received his Ph.D. in Economics from Claremont Graduate University, an MA in Economics from the University of Southern California and a BA in Economics from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
David Krider, CFA, Portfolio Manager
David Krider is a Portfolio Manager responsible for the ongoing research and development of global equity-based investment strategies as well as the day-to-day trading of global portfolios. Prior to joining the firm, David was founder and Chief Technology Officer of Visualize, Inc., a firm that specializes in financial visualization and analytic software. He was a Research Associate at First Quadrant before leaving to start his own firm. David received a BS in Economics and Computer Science from the California Institute of Technology.
Yigal Newman, Ph.D., Portfolio Manager
Yigal Newman is a Portfolio Manager responsible for ongoing research and development of options and other volatility-based investment strategies as well as the day-to-day trading of such accounts. Yigal was previously with Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) where he worked on various alpha generation and quantitative analysis projects. Prior to that, he earned his PhD in Finance from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He also holds a BS summa cum laude in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
Ram Willner, DBA, Portfolio Manager
Ram Willner is a Portfolio Manager responsible for the ongoing research and development of fixed income and currency-based strategies as well as the day-to-day portfolio management and trading of such accounts. Prior to joining Analytic, Ram led global analytics at PIMCO and at Banc of America Capital Management [BACAP] Fixed Income Department. For the past 10 years, Ram extended his quantitative background to serve as a domestic and international fixed income portfolio manager, managing real money and levered investments at Morgan Stanley Asset Management (in London), at BACAP, and at Global Fixed Income Partners. Ram has lectured and published extensively on fixed income topics, particularly with an emphasis on quantitative approaches. Ram holds a DBA (Doctorate of Business Administration) in Financial Mathematics from Harvard University, a MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University and a BA in Mathematics with Honors from Brandeis University.
Brian J. Haskin, Managing Director, Marketing & Client Service
Brian Haskin is responsible for the management of the firm’s sales, marketing and client relations teams as well as for the strategic development of the firm’s marketing activities. Brian has had extensive experience in building and managing sales, marketing and client service teams within the U.S. market as well as in several overseas markets. Prior to joining Analytic Investors, the majority of his career was spent at Barclays Global Investors, where he held a number of senior management and business development positions in the U.S., Australia and Hong Kong. He has also held senior business development positions in the U.S. at Deutsche Asset Management and Wilshire Associates. Brian received an MBA with Honors in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago and a BS in Business Administration/Accounting from the University of Southern California.
Mark Arredondo, CPA, Director, Information Technology
Mark Arredondo is responsible for managing the firm's information technology and systems. Prior to joining Analytic, Mark held positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of investment management systems consulting, operations/compliance consulting and information technology. He most recently worked at InvestTech Systems Consulting as a senior consultant working with investment firms to improve operational efficiencies. Some of his recent projects included implementing a new Charles River Trade Order Management System and a SAS70 pre-audit preparation analysis. The bulk of Mark's experience was with First Quadrant in Pasadena, where his responsibilities included roles in the systems/networking group, the business systems operations group, and the in-house development team. Mark started his career in the audit/accounting field working at Coopers & Lybrand, L.P. in the systems area and subsequently as a business systems consultant at Arthur Andersen, L.P. Mark holds a BA in Economnics and Accounting from Claremont McKenna College. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Dennis  Roy, Director, Operations
Dennis Roy is responsible for the firm's operations, including trade settlements, portfolio accounting and performance measurement. Dennis' strengths are in the areas of management, operational development and process improvement. With more than 25 years in the investment management field, Dennis has held positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of operations and compliance in large and small firms. Most recently, he was responsible for establishing the operations and compliance functions for a company in San Diego that was in start-up mode. Dennis then managed the operations function to assure its functionality would support the corporate growth objectives. He graduated cum laude with a B.S. degree in Finance from Suffolk University.
